Shroud?

Postby Stefan » 20 Oct 2014, 10:45

Hello
I have noticed something on my AR - the shroud is wiggling, even I did screw in those setscrews tightly, and I did the same to the shroud cap. Is this normal (I havent noticed it so far) and how can I fix it?

Have you tried removing the the shroud entirely? Just remove the two set screws near the breach end of the shroud. Inside the shroud, I believe there is an aluminum spacer (w/O Ring) between the end of the barrel and the internal baffle (aluminum tube with holes). There should be another O ring insider the cap which keeps the internal baffle centered and assembly centered. Once you remove your shroud, just use a cleaning/dowel rod to push the internal assembly out. Putting it all back together may help fix the looseness. Hope that helps.

I did remove it completely. But endcap was so stuck, that I have managed to damage it  damn aluminium parts. Now I have to make another one, from solid steel  I hope that after that the problem would go away

I've made new end cap, from aluminium, for start (this is me threading for first time in my life) - without silencer thread, cause I dont need one on this thing - its already dead quiet.
But I will make one from steel ASAP.

If swagging actually could be from broken of oring seals inside the shroud from fore end barrel seat. Usually factory lock tighted the screw end silencer.
