Forum Post editing window time limit?

Postby 18 Wheeler » 22 Nov 2014, 19:12

Not a dig, but rather a polite enquiry...

...The time window in which you are permitted to edit one of your posts is rather short here on the DF, seems to be only about 5-10 minutes?

This can be a bit frustrating and create confusion when a simple edit would improve clarity and "userfriendliness" IMO, or even just the chance to sort out spilling errors.

1. Does anyone else think a longer window would be useful? Or is it just me?

2. I'm not sure I really understand the reason for having a limit at all... but if it's deemed necessary then 24 hours would be helpful? Suggestions?

I agree 12 or 24 hrs. would be good for me. because I can maybe rewrite what I have written, with better spellings or even try to use better grammar as that's all the rage these days  or so I read.

I'm in complete agreement with you 18Wheeler, I find it very frustrating and have emailed my view to Richard. IMO such a limit detracts from the practicality of the information some of us find the time to post with the aim of helping others. There is no edit time-window on the Black Forum and also on other forums which I contribute to. ;)

Yep, I agree too. Even on another forum that I use, although the post content can be edited ,the title can not be edited. I can live with it, we have a fine forum here... (thank you ), but it would be nice..
