Cooking Recipies sub section ?

Postby salop sniper » 11 Dec 2013, 18:09

Folks Just a quick idea, could we have a section for posting about eating what we have shot and recipies used etc !
Am happy cooking most things but I struggle to get Pigeon right, to offen its tough and like a block of rubber.
Somerset rabbit is nice though although it takes a while, gotta love the slow cooker.
Sadly my Mrs wont eat anything I shoot so am on my own quite offen which is a shame as I end up turning down alot of pheasant and duck this time of year.

Hi Matt, my preferred method with Pheasant is to hang in shed by neck for about five days, remove head, wings and lower legs. Remove pelt complete, draw and check the innards and then strip the meat, wash it and pat dry on paper towel, cover and put in fridge ready to cook next day. Do this with a brace and make a big casserole, divide into portions as required and freeze. Brilliant. I never bother roasting pheasant but I do roast duck. ;)
